Let's talk about fashion... all the silly clothes that people wear, especially considering that I have awesome stuff to buy and I don't see enough of it on the street.

Summer Favorites

Julie Coppa - Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Summer is almost here and it’s time to switch over my wardrobe to accommodate the rising temperatures.  I pretty much live in dressed throughout summer and I made sure to pick out some of this season’s hottest colors and styles to feature here on Proud Pocket. One of my personal favorites is the Dori Polka Dot dress with its subtle ruffles and fun feminine flair. The Dori dress would be the perfect choice for a sun filled picnic at the park or pair it with a matching red cardi and flaunt it at the office.

For an ultra sultry look be sure to check out the Juliette dress for a toned down take on the timeless little black dress. The Juliette dress is sure to grab stares with its deep scalloped backline making it nearly backless and accentuating the shoulders and neckline. This is definitely not a dress for the timid so for those adventurous enough to try this little number out, be sure to combine this showstopper with a pair of wedges and some flashy bangles to set the mood just right.

If you’re looking for something a little more professional I’ve added the Sour Times Dress to my summer arsenal which is a wonderful blend of sophistication, work appropriate, with a hint of sex appeal. This pencil dress is unique not only due to its eye-catching yellow color but also because of the peep hole back, showing just a little but not too much. Take this classic to the office with a white cardigan or wear it on its own.

Spring is Here! Time for Capri's, Shorts, and Skirts!

Julie Coppa - Saturday, April 10, 2010
After a long, cold winter spent being bundled up it's so exciting to go outside to 70+ degree weather, and you know what that means, right?

It means it's time to stock up on the best Spring fashions without busting the bank. At Proud Pocket we would like to make the humble suggestion of starting out with our green capris, pinstripe skirt, or even for those planning on going to the beach our wicker beach bag and polka dot dress.

My Style and Proud Pocket's Selection

Julie Coppa - Wednesday, July 22, 2009

My personal style definitely manifests itself in the items I choose to feature on www.ProudPocket.com. If you're ever wondering "Why on earth is she selling that?", read on to gain some insight on how I choose my selections.

Some might say that I have a somewhat unconventional style. Well, not unconventional for the population as a whole, just unconventional for my age I suppose. You see, I'm not one to run out and grab the latest fashion finds just because its currently being rocked by Gwen Stefani or some other celebrity, no, my style instincts run a bit deeper than that. Allow me to share with you a few of my fashion staples that have stuck with me for years and probably will for many years to come.

  1. The tried and true black blazer I LOVE blazers. My closet is practically full of them. I just love how versatile they are throughout the seasons (which is a necessity for us Utah girls) and for different occasions. If you don't already have a solid collection of blazers, I would say at the very least a black blazer is an all out must. For instance, if I'm going out to dinner with a date I will pair my black blazer with a low cut, sexy silk cami but if I'm at the office my black blazer finds friends with a button up shirt, a pencil skirt and my favorite stilettos. Another favorite look of mine is throwing a blazer over a t-shirt and pairing it with a pair of jeans and heels. Or, for a little more dressed up look while still wearing jeans, go with a button up under the blazer and heels with chunky earrings. I've also been known to wear a blazer completely on it's own by using an eye catching broach to pin over the top and cover the cleavage region. The 2 blazers I have listed for sale (the black corduroy 3 button blazer and the light blue mandarin collar jacket) go with just about anything, it's just up to you to do the experimenting to see what you like best. I honestly can't get enough blazers, in my opinion this is a timeless look that will never go out of style (how can looking classy ever be wrong?).
  2. Here are a couple of the blazers we offer at www.proudpocket.com:

  3. I've always found it odd that more women don't wear button-up shirts, I mean come on, we look so good in them! I have a button up shirt in just about every color and I have found oh-so-many uses for them. It may sound odd but one of my favorite outfits is a black silk button up shirt with white capris and black stilettos. Throw in a pair a silver, dangly earrings and you're a showstopper. The combination is relaxed yet elegant and I couldn't love it more. As I mentioned, my button-up shirts get a lot of use with my blazers but I also pair them with jeans, skirts, and dress pants. For fall and winter they're perfect to layer under a mundane cardigan or sweater. Button-ups are yet another garment piece that will never go out of style. Below are a couple of button ups available at www.proudpocket.com:

  4. I find myself becoming giddy around the end of August every year because of what's approaching...layering season! As you can probably tell from my previous 2 picks, fall and winter are hands down my favorite season because of all the fashion opportunities. I get to break out all the sweaters, cardigans, blouses, blazers, jackets, and coats and have my way with them. Take a gander at a few of the sweaters we have featured at Proud Pocket:
  5. I love buying a fancy dress and finding a way to wear it without having an occasion to do so. I found this beautiful floral silk dress complete with sequins and a little bit of mesh in the skirt to give it that poofy effect and rather than go all out with fancy shoes and accessories I paired it with a pair of flip flops and forgot about the jewelry. Now I wear it throughout the summer whether I'm just going out to the store or walking the dogs. I made it casual enough that it looks like an everyday dress but I still feel elegant when wearing it. There's also something to be said for finding that perfect airy and light summer dress. You know the one, the dress that doesn't make summer feel so hot and let's even subtle breezes cool you down. 6. I think what my style ultimately says about me that I love exuding elegance and class, even if I'm just wearing jeans. I love adding an element of being dressed up to the equation, hence my fascination with pairing blazers and jeans. Now that I've explained a little about my style, perhaps some of the items I sell will make more sense. I only hope that other people enjoy what I've selected to feature, which I guess is the gamble here. I would love to hear feedback about the items I'm selling so feel free to email me and let me know if there's something you feel is lacking and I will see what I can do get it added to the site. I'm always open to suggestions and I love to hear from you, so don't be shy!

Well, that was fun...

Wow! Who would have thought that starting an online clothing company for women would be so much work? I mean, I know that you need to work hard to get ahead and all of that good stuff, but... wow!

So, we're officially launched here at Proud Pocket - something which is completely awesome! When I was a little kid I never thought to myself that someday I would have my own website selling clothes. I guess part of that is because the internet wasn't around when I was eight, but still. My hope is now that I didn't completely fumble this entire thing and my sense of style is something that other women like to wear.

That really is the biggest gamble. Whenever I'm out I see some of the weirdest styles on girls these days and I wonder where the cuteness has gone? Where are the flirty summer dresses and sexy skirts that I wore a few years ago when I was 20? Why is it now backwards girl pants on boys and cut up socks on the hands? Why can't I pass more girls wearing a set of subdued bangles than girls with way too much mascara on?

Oh well, you girls that I'm catering to are out there somewhere! I'll just need to spend some time finding out where you've gone to.

Viva la style révolution!
